Below are some educational technology you will find in our school:

1.) Hardware:

  • Printer
    • This would allow a teacher to print off resources found on the Internet, as well as documents he/she creates. There is a function to print the screen of the SmartBoard, so now there is a copy of what the teacher and student put together.
  • SmartBoard
    • This is a white board that promotes interactive learning to engage students in activities and lessons. The teacher is able to project a document, and then write on it to demonstrate steps or tasks to students. The students are also able to write on the board. A web site can be projected on the white board and it because interactive through touch.
  • Scanner
    • This is a device that basically takes a picture of a picture or document. This allows the teacher to put a picture into a document or to edit the document. Since the teacher can scan a document, this document could be put onto a web site for easy student retrieval.
  • CD/DVD RW Drive
    • This allows a teacher to play CDs and/or movies. It also gives teachers the opportunity to turn a presentation, a recorded play or performance, or a lesson into a viewable DVD. The burned DVD can be a reference or just a memory of a wonderful experience/performance.

2.) Peripheral devices:

  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Video Camera
    • This is a recording device that is used when a teacher wants to record actions and voice. A school play/musical performance can be video taped so students can see and evaluate their performance, a class presentation can be recorded, and a teacher can record a lesson for students to refer back to.
  • Digital Camera
    • This is a device that takes still pictures. It is a great way to capture pictures of accomplishments, pictures of projects, and to take pictures of evidence or reference for a project.
  • Monitor
  • Projector
  • Speaker
    • Additional speakers are very necessary in a classroom setting. The speakers on a computer do not get loud enough to project sound to students. The additional speakers make sure that all students are able to hear to maximize learning.

3.) Application software:

  • Microsoft Office
    • Microsoft Office contains Word, which is a word processing program, Excel, which is a spreadsheet program, and PowerPoint, which is a presentation program. These are used to make handouts, keep track of information, type reports, make class presentations, etc.
  • Google Chrome
    • Right now, this is the newest internet browser. This is what a teacher would use to gain access to the internet.
  • Skype
    • This is video conferencing web site. This allows for outside professionals to come into the classroom, but through video. The class can Skype with another classroom, an author, etc.
  • iTunes
    • Is an application that allows the user to search and store music, TV shows, books, movies, podcasts, and other educational topics. Some of these items are free and others have to be purchased.
  • Windows Media Player
  • Adobe Photoshop
